About Us

You Don't Have to Work Through It Alone

Sometimes healing happens differently when you're surrounded by people who understand.

At Elevation Individual & Family Therapy, our therapy groups provide a supportive, therapist-led environment where you can connect with others navigating similar challenges, develop practical coping skills, gain new perspectives, and work toward meaningful change.

Whether you're processing grief, managing anxiety or depression, navigating relationships, building healthier coping skills, or looking for support during a difficult season of life, group therapy can remind you that you are not alone in what you're experiencing.

Elevation offers group therapy and therapeutic support groups in the Chicago South Suburbs, including our Homewood and Matteson, Illinois locations. Virtual group options may also be available for eligible clients.

What is group therapy?

Group therapy brings together a small number of people with similar concerns or goals under the guidance of a trained mental health professional.

Unlike simply talking with friends or attending an informal support group, therapy groups are intentionally structured and facilitated by a therapist. Depending on the group, sessions may include guided discussions, therapeutic activities, education, coping strategies, skill-building exercises, reflection, and opportunities to learn from the experiences of others.

You decide what you're comfortable sharing. The goal isn't to put anyone on the spot—it's to create an environment where participants can learn, grow, and feel supported.

Why choose group therapy?

One of the most powerful parts of group therapy is discovering that some of the thoughts, feelings, and challenges you've been carrying aren't yours alone.

Group therapy can provide opportunities to:

  • Connect with people experiencing similar challenges
  • Learn practical coping and communication skills
  • Gain different perspectives
  • Practice new skills in a supportive environment
  • Reduce feelings of isolation
  • Learn from the experiences of others
  • Build confidence and self-awareness
  • Receive guidance from a trained therapist
  • Develop tools you can use outside of therapy

Group therapy can be used on its own in some circumstances or alongside individual, couples, or family therapy depending on your needs and treatment recommendations.

What can group therapy help with?

Elevation's group therapy offerings may change throughout the year based on the needs of our clients and community.

Our therapists may offer groups focused on areas such as:

Grief & Loss
Connect with others navigating loss while developing healthy ways to process grief, adjust to change, and move forward while honoring what you've experienced.

Anxiety & Stress
Learn practical strategies for understanding anxiety, managing overwhelming thoughts and emotions, and responding differently to stress.

Depression & Emotional Wellness
Develop healthier coping strategies, increase connection, and work toward patterns that support improved emotional well-being.

Adult ADHD
Explore challenges related to attention, organization, motivation, emotional regulation, routines, and everyday functioning alongside adults with similar experiences.

Women's Mental Health & Wellness
Connect with other women while exploring emotional wellness, relationships, boundaries, identity, life transitions, stress, and self-care.

Relationships & Communication
Develop healthier communication skills, explore relationship patterns, establish boundaries, and strengthen interpersonal relationships.

Parenting & Co-Parenting
Build practical strategies for communication, boundaries, conflict management, and navigating the challenges that can come with parenting or co-parenting.

Additional therapy groups, workshops, and therapeutic programs may be offered throughout the year.

What to Expect From Couples or Family Therapy at Elevation

Contact our team and tell us a little about what you’re looking for. You don’t have to know exactly what type of therapy you need—we can help you determine the best next step.

We’ll help connect you with an Elevation therapist based on your concerns, preferences, availability, location, and other important factors.

During your first appointment, your therapist will learn more about the concerns bringing you to therapy, your relationship or family dynamics, and what you hope will be different.

Together, you’ll identify goals and begin developing practical strategies that can help improve communication, connection, boundaries, and relationships outside of the therapy room.
